Grey College Old Boy Bags Only RSA Medal at the IAAF World Champs 2013

Old Grey College boy and current Springbok track and field athlete, Johan Cronjé, was the only SA athlete to win a medal at the recent World Athletic Championships in Moscow.

Cronje's who's personal best stands at 3.33.46 stuck with the pack in the 1500m final until the 200m mark where he knifed in for the bronze with a time of 3.36.83.

Johan matriculated from Grey in 2000 and has since excelled in the field of athletics. Johan's acheivements include five times SA senior Champion in the 1500m field.

Cronje was in the semi-finals of the 1500m at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and was in the semi-finals of the 1500m at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. At the 2009 IAAF Grand Prix in Madrid he won the 1500m.
