Glenwood played two matches this past weekend with the first against Verulam. At the coin toss Verulam were asked to bat summoning the bowling attack of Callan Pearce and Mickey Hay. Callan Pearce finished with figures of 3/6 in four overs and was topped by teammate Hay, who took 4/1 in his 2.4 overs.

Glenwood raced to the target set by Verulam, reaching it in 5.5 overs led by Andile Phehlukwayo (23*) to claim an impressive 8 wicket victory.

The following day Northwood had a chance to redeem themselves as they faced their rivals, Glenwood, twice in two weeks. The winner would top the group and go through to the semis scheduled for January.

Glenwood went to bat first and Northwood had an early wicket breakthrough, but Darius Veeran and Tevin Varatharajalu held steady at the crease to post 98 runs for a second wicket partnership. Varatharajalu top scored with 71 not out off 41 balls and Glenwood finished at 160/6.

Northwood went for the chase unluckily losing wickets early in their innings. From then on Northwood’s fall of wickets meant that no steady partnership could be firmly established to bring them to victory. In the end Northwood ran out of overs as precision bowling from Glenwood restricted Northwood to 120 for 8.

Glenwood have notched another win against the Knights to place themselves top of their schools T20 group and in the semi-finals scheduled for January.
