  • Free State U18 @lantic 7's Champions

The @lantic 7’s initiative started in 2007 with the purpose of exposing grass root players to the game and providing excelling players with National exposure. The 7’s rugby form has seen player’s crossing over to and fro from the 15 man form of the game. Paul Treu’s support for the tournament has helped skyrocket the event, making it the largest tournament of its kind.

This year the provincial SA @tlantic 7's tournament followed the same structure of separating teams into four pools to play in round robin stages, with losing teams dropping into Bowl, Plate, and Shield matches, and the winners advancing to the Championship Cup matches.

Grey College had the majority representation on the Free State squad with five schoolboys and Louis Botha had a solid share contributing three. The Free State team faced strong opposition in the semi-finals against Western Province and managed a 3 point victory. Free State claimed this year’s Championship title winning all six of their matches in spite of being pushed to their limit by Valke in the Cup final match.
