The South African team has built a great sense of spirit with an impressive run at the U18 International rugby series as players from across all backgrounds united for the green jersey.

Craven Week and the high performance squad were the first stages in the holistic structuring of our future Springboks, with the U18 Series as the pinnacle of South Africa’s young rugby talent providing them with serious future rugby prospects. SA recorded impressive wins against the France, Wales and England. The four nations competed in a series of matches that took place in the Western Cape.

The squad of twenty eight players was rotated evenly for the first two games against France and Wales, the widespread talent was then sharpened into a fifteen man squad that took on England in the final fixture of the Series. Sergeal Petersen and Rohan Janse Van Rensburg remained constant in the backline scoring a try a piece in every match. Vice-captain Handre Pollard led the team to victories against the Welsh and especially against England where he scored twenty six points. Pierre Schoeman captained his team well throughout.

The SA team had a well-tuned squad from the forwards to the backline. Cohesion was found early between the youngsters, which set them up for their consecutive wins.

A massive number of the players will join the Bulls including, captain Pierre Schoeman, vice-captain Handre Pollard, fullback Jesse Kreil, centre Rohan Janse Van Rensburg and flanker Thabo Mabuza, to name a few. The SA U18 team is almost set to produce future Springboks and the rate of development for players at this calibre is drastically increasing, bringing them all closer to their ultimate goals.
