2 Spots Remain in Top Four in U19 Absa Currie Cup

The Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-19 team and defending Absa Under-19 A-Division Provincial Champions has kept a six points lead on nearest rivals DHL Western Province after beating the Toyota Free State 50-25 in Bloemfontein on Friday.

With two weeks left to play, only the Leopards are completely out of play-off contention, with Blue Bulls and WP having secured their top four spots already.

The Cell C Sharks, who had to beat the EP Kings on Saturday to move into fourth, did so with a close 24-21 win. DHL Western Province, who won 43-23 against the Leopards in Potchefstroom, will face Free State next weekend in what can be seen as the second place decider.

In the Absa Under-19 B-Division Provincial Championships, the four semifinal teams for next weekend have been determined following a last week of regular play.

In Kimberley, SWD won 30-10 over GWK Griquas in a match that had no bearing on the top four standings, but the Steval Pumas' 43-40 win over Down Touch Griffons elevated them past their visitors to fourth on the log. They will now face the undefeated Valke in Kempton Park next weekend.

The same happened in Wellington, where the Boland Cavaliers beat Limpopo Blue Bulls 49-25, results in the Far North team travelling down south again next weekend, this time for a place in the final.
