Outeniqua Old Boy Gets Baby Bok Call Up

Thu, 05/06/2014 - 16:47

Outeniqua old boy Duhan van der Merwe joined the Baby Boks in New Zealand yesterday to replace the injured Rohan Janse van Rensburg ahead of their crucial Pool C clash against the Baby Blacks.

Duhan van der Merwe was part of the incredibe Outeniqua side that beat Grey College at the Kearsney Easter Rugby festival last year. Having only lost two matches in 2013, the Kwagga side was bursting with talent from the likes of Leighton Eksteen, Dewald Human, Geor Malan, and fellow Baby Bok Warrick Gelant.

Duhan is very quick on his feet, a powerful ball carrier, and plays with a lot of aggression. Duhan played for the SA Schools side last year and also represented the SA U18 sevens team that won gold in the African Youth Sport Games. Duhan will start at 23 tomorrow in the Baby Boks IRB Junior World Cup round 2 match against New Zealand.
