SA Dominate Medal Standings At 2nd African Youth Games

Team South Africa finished tops with a total of 26 medals at the just ended Swimming tournament of the second African Youth Games. For it's great performance, Team South Africa got 13 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals.

Egypt came second best with a total of 22 medals composed of 10 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze medals, while Team Namibia finished third with four medalsĀ of 2 gold,1 silver and a bronze.

Hosts Botswana could only afford sixth position with with a total of 3 medals composed of Naomi Ruele's two silver and David Van Der Colff's bronze.

The hosting nation hopes to clinch the fourth medal during the mixed team event final were dashed the local ambassadors finished fifth behind South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia, Namibia and Algeria.
