For the 18th consecutive year, Kearsney College at Botha’s Hill will host the country’s top tennis playing schools at a three-day invitation festival this weekend (24-26 May).

Current top seeded schools in the country, Paul Roos from Stellenbosch (1st seed) and Affies from Pretoria (2nd), will be participating; as well as Paul Roos player Wayne Montgomery, currently ranked number seven in the World ITF Junior Rankings.

Other participating schools are St Stithians (Gauteng), Grey College (Bloemfontein), Selborne College (East London), as well as Westville Boys’ High, Clifton College and Kearsney College (all KZN).

Kearsney will be represented by Keegan Foss, Dale Sandy, Brad Porteous, Oliver Thomson, Matthew Bentley, Ben Patton and Lee Brown.

Organiser Anthony Willows said whilst the tournament was based at Kearsney, courts at Highbury and St Mary’s would also be used for some of the matches.  The finals will take place at Kearsney’s courts on Sunday (26th) from 08h00.

The festival has become a highlight on the national schools tennis calendar, and an incredibly high standard of tennis is always evident throughout the three play days.

Willows said that once again sponsors Wilson and Sportsmans Warehouse had committed to supporting the festival.
