Grey High School of Port Elizabeth won gold at the 28th SACS Water Polo Tournament today, taking out hosts SACS 2 to 1 in a closely contested final match.

SACS could not have asked for a better finals competitor than Grey High, as each team posted nearly even per game goals and goal concessions, both posting the lowest concession averages (Grey: 1.58; SACS: 1.41) with Grey High never letting more than three into the net in any given game.

Tournament favourites and five time champions, St. Johns, bowed out after extra time in the quarter finals against Bishops, while last year’s winners, Pretoria Boys, tied for bronze in a three all playoff against Bishops.

Best Goalkeeper: Justin Joubert (SACS)
Best Back: Dan Trninic (St. Johns)
Best Forward: Shane Fourie (SACS)
